Hello all!
I have a curve ball that I would like to bounce off of this forum to see if anyone has an idea on what might be occurring. So I decided to upgrade the nas with a few parts from ebay since you can now get it pretty cheap.
I5-3570S $40
16GB of memory $40
10Gbs OCE11102 NIC $20
So put it all together and what do you get, a good puzzle.
After validating the dimms, slots, ect to ensure I wasn't losing my marbles and by accident I discovered the tipping point. When the 10Gb/s card is installed only 8GB of memory shows. Remove the 10Gb/s card, 16GB of memory shows. Now that just leaves me scratching my head. Just to make sure I re-installed the 2x1Gb/s copper card the TS-870 came with and it shows 16GB of memory. Now I know computers like to toss some good curve balls at you every now and then but a PCI-E card causing half my memory to go away is a new one. I don't suppose anyone else has done this? I know there was an official TS-870-PRO-16GB and they advertise 10Gb/s support so I should not be too far off a supported(not official I understand) config. Thank you all in advanced for taking the time to read this short story, I hope I can entertain you, I also hope that perhaps someone may have some insight as to what just happened.

Edit: i forgot to note that it shows the 8gb at bios too, so its before the qnap software even starts.
TS-870 weird ram issue.
