It's really not advised to have two different memory sticks (weather that be in capacity, speed or any other characteristic).

Re: TS-251D-2G memory upgrade
Hello. I tried to upgrade ram for 251D with: Kngston HyperX impact HX424S14IBK2 / 8 GB (2x4GB) 2400Mhz DDR4 CL14 SODIMM.
After restarting I can't connect to the network, it starts normally but it is not connected to the network. I have done many tests.
Is this RAM not compatible?

Re: TS-251D-2G memory upgrade
The RAM you used is CL14 instead of CL17 of the original ones but I don't know if that could be a reason.
Have you tried to revert back to the previous RAM to discard any other possible malfunction?

Hi,
Just added GoodRam DDR4 8GB 2400 CL17 (GR2400S464L17S/8G) ot the NAS.
Now my 251D works with 10GB RAM.

Re: TS-251D-2G memory upgrade
Hello!
Which memories used you in 2x8Gb?
I would like to order first of all 1x Crucial 8GB DDR4 2400MHz CT8G4SFS824A and next time another one. Works this type of memory in dual channel? Which memory or memory kit is the best for 2x8Gb performance?
Thank you

Re: TS-251D-2G memory upgrade
For whoever reference, 8G memory is installed on my TS-251D, so total 2+8=10 G memory are available
The memory model is CT8G4SFS824A 1.2V CL17 from microcenter.
https://www.microcenter.com/product/463 ... ory-module
Also, I found the original 2G memory is from A-DATA.

Re: TS-251D-2G memory upgrade
Another quick point of reference: I have installed both 1x then 2x CT8G4SFS824A (16GB total) Crucial RAM in my TS-251D, and all appears to be working fine, like some of the screenshots above. It's an earlier (?) J4005 CPU.
There are various posts over the place saying things do and don't work, but the last few posts above in this thread were what convinced me to go with it. I tried with the 2GB ADATA removed and replaced by one CT8G4SFS824A, which booted and detected fine 8GB, then added the 2nd. No dramas. I decided not to bother testing 10GB, but assume it would have worked in single channel mode. My research also confirmed that the J4005 / J4025 do benefit from dual channel (2x 64 bit memory modules) for usable memory bandwidth, which translates to a reasonable few % speed in real use (untested by me).
QuAI doesn't seem to be using GPU now, I don't know if it was prior to the RAM upgrade. But transcoding tests ok on the GPU, so it is working.
Just tested with Browser Station (which would not install on 2GB), and by opening a few tabs was able to easily get >5GB memory used.

Re: TS-251D-2G memory upgrade
This is my first post and I wanted to share my experience.
I have used a TS-212-E for many years now and am limited by the 256Mb of RAM which in turn limits the software I can install. There is no Container Station nor Virtualization Station capabilities, and I was looking for an updated product that would fit my budget and eventually replace the TS-212-E and a Pentium G2030T that I use with Proxmox for virtualization/containerization. In other words, I'm looking for an all-in-one device and fit my budget.
I recently purchased a TS-251D-2G with the J4025 processor. I installed two 4TB Seagate Ironwolf drives and started the system up and found out I needed more than the included 2Gb RAM to use it efficiently.
Today I purchased and installed 32Gb of G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 SO-DIMM: Product F4-2400C16D-32GRS DDR4-2400 16GBx2 CL16-16-16-39 1.20v.
Of course I removed the 2Gb SO-DIMM that was pre-installed in the device as this was a 2 SO-DIMM kit.
Everything seems to be working fine and fast. I have yet to run more than a few applications. I will re-post if I have any hiccups. Cheers.
Lastly, I know the 253D would have more cores and maybe run my VMs better.... but I got a good deal on the 251D.

Re: TS-251D-2G memory upgrade
hi all
recently i took a TS-251D-2G as a replacement of my old TS-251 that was defected.
the 2g RAM was so small for my applications, so i decide to buy two modules of this RAM:
https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct4g4sfs8266
totally 8gb RAM.
but the module is Crucial 4GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM
not 2400.
is 2666 maybe a compatibility problem or it will work ok?
also, is there any video or tutorial to see how can i put the two modules inside?
thanks

Confirm 2 modules of Kingston KVR24S17S8/8-SP (total 16Gb) are working fine on ts-251d-4g

Re: TS-251D-2G memory upgrade
The CRUCIAL 8GB SINGLE DDR4 2666MHZ with CL 19 is available in the local market. But many YouTube sources show that CL 17 should be used. Can I use the available Ram (CL-19) for my TS-251D? Thanks.
