Hy,
So, there is still a very lively discussion about the limit of memory that we can use, but although I am one of those eager to see the result of this discussion, there is something else I need to ask.
Whereas the system uses SODIMM 2400 MT/s, I need to know if it would work with a similar 2666 MT/s memory.
If I remember correctly, I believe it would work at 2400MT/s, that is, without taking advantage of all the speed of memory, and I ask you to be kind enough to confirm or correct me.
Thanks

run the command to confirm how much ram you will be actually using. and report back here the result
I don’t understand. What command ?

I have 32GB in mine now. I would like to know why it actually works. I don’t think the processor can use more than 8.
will show how much physical memory the CPU is capable of addressing.[/color]
The reason it works is because - in the case of your TS-253D - is because the Memory Controller and DDR Memory Interface are design to address that amount of space. That does not necessarily mean that the system the SoC is integrated in has the necessary circuitry to address the maximum amount of physical memory the CPU is capable of addressing.

Anyone know if the installed DDR4 RAM is having CAS/CL 17 or 16?
I got my TS-253D with 4Gb and want to upgrade with a 2nd 4Gb RAM module and from what I understand then it is best having the same memory speed and CAS/CL.
I'm hoping someone could help me out here. I have a ts-253d and am trying to properly test the memory. I have the oem ADATA 4gb stick and a 16gb crucial stick (CT16G4SFD824A). I am only able to run memtest86 because of the UEFI BIOS. I have tried multiple combinations of the ram sticks and am I getting the following results:
Slot #1: ADATA; Slot #2: Empty -> Pass
Slot #1: Empty: Slot #2: Crucial -> Pass
Slot #1: ADATA; Slot #2: Crucial -> Errors
Slot #1: Crucial; Slot #2: Empty -> Errors
Any idea what's going on? Why they're passing separately in certain slots, but failing together? I am not yet running on the latest BIOS, would that make a difference? I plan on trying that next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just slapped a 16GiB RAM DIMM into the TS-253D that I bought a couple of weeks ago. While I had it open, I also slapped in the 8GiB DIMM I had lying around. I now have 24GiB in the NAS
The 8GiB DIMM is a Lenovo branded one from a laptop, the other one is a Crucial DIMM I order before the weekend. It's the same type as mentioned in one of the earlier posts.
Single CT8G4SFS824A stick working on a TS-253D, 12GB total (new stick + original 4GB). Qnap apps and a VM working ok for a couple of days. Waiting for the second stick to arrive.
Can confrm that 2 sticks of Kingston KF426S15IB1/16 work as well
Original ram replaced in less than 5 minutes by accessing the slots from front opening after removing the hard drives.
