Hello Everybody,
After 2.5 years, (not very hard work), my QNAP TS-431P2 suddenly stopped working. The power supply is fully operational, but the NAS does not turn on. The warranty expired 6 months ago and I can't ask for a free repair. I can't open the disks on my Windows 10 PC, with the tools that QNAP recommended here: https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/knowledg ... n-windows/
I installed UBUNTU, but I can't open the disks with it either.
Has anyone had such a problem? Can anyone give me some advice?
Thank you in advance!

Re: QNAP TS-431P2 suddenly stopped working
Might want to partition the problem to see if it is a NAS or a HDD problem.
What did you install ubuntu on? The QNAP or the hard drive? I sounds like it is on the hard drive and that you just got a hard drive failure.

Re: QNAP TS-431P2 suddenly stopped working
Hello Everybody,
we have a problem on The QNAP TS-431P2 suddenly stopped working. The power supply is fully operational, the NAS turn on but we can't accede on the system.
The problem "error message" is :
"Disque(s) dur(s) avec signature QNAP détecté
Le système a détecté que certains disques durs installés ont déjà été utilisés dans un NAS QNAP. Sélectionnez « Restaurer les paramètres dorigine » pour restaurer le système à ses paramètres dorigine (cela ne supprimera PAS les données des disques durs.) Ou sélectionnez « Initialiser le système » pour poursuivre le processus d’installation (ceci SUPPRIMERA toutes les données de ces disques durs.)"
after we did Restorer to original settings in order to and to not lose data, the process start and progress normaly, after the operation hangs and stop at 99%.
Please, i need your help for fix this problem.
Thank you in advance!

This that error in Ubuntu on windows?
What is your disk configuration (raid type)?
What is your backup situation?

IT'S IN UBUNTU.
for the configuration type raid and for backup. I am not sure because it's an old solution, we have 04 HDDs of 5 Tb in total we have 20Tb.

So where are your backups located ? .. just to make sure .. a RAID is NOT a backup .. you know that .. right ?

Re: QNAP TS-431P2 suddenly stopped working
My advice would have been to try and troubleshoot it in the NAS, mainly because you don't seem to know the configuration that you are trying to recover, but now that you been messing with some sort of recovery in Ubuntu.......
Sorry, I know nothing about that.

Re: QNAP TS-431P2 suddenly stopped working
My french is very very poor, but I guess that is an issue in NAS, not in Ubuntu!
Seems like NAS lost configuration and "rediscovers" the disks, but now claiming that the disks have already a QNAP signature.
And restore with original settings fails.
If no backup exists, QNAP support is may be the best address to place a call.
If a backup exists: did you reboot after recovery stucks?
Regards
