TVS-473e fan replacement/upgade

Post by delirium »

Hello :)

I'm currently having some issues with high CPU temps (56-57C) when the NAS device (TVS-473e) is almost in idle state (with only the apps running on it, without media streaming, file transfers, etc).
I'm pretty sure the CPU fan is also making some odd squeeky sounds at lower RPM, so I think it's time to replace it.
I can't find a compatibility list for the CPU fan. I can only see that it's a laptop kind of 60mm fan. I'd like to put something more beefier on it, so are there any recommendations on that? Is anything bigger going to fit? Is there an actual CPU cooler that I could put?

In addition, the NAS does tend to get quite hot, even the chassis gets warm. I'm planning on changing the system fan with a "Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM".
Is there anything else I could add/do to keep temperatures down? The NAS device is placed in a cupboard (open type) with a shelf just above it, but it does look like it has enough access to air.

The 12cm fan is just a regular pwm fan like the Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM

Awesome mate, thanks. Do you know if you can upgrade the cpu fan also?
