Adding 10TB to TVS-872XT

Post by bokr71 »

Hi,

Right now I have 6 x HGST HUH721010ALE604 10TB hard drives in my TVS-872XT. I want to buy two more, add one, and have a spare lying in the closet.

For 30 months I have had NO issues with the drives, and I would like to stay with these good Enterprise rated hard drives, however, they are not easy to find - at least not here in Canada.

According to QNAP's compatibility list, I can also use the HGST HUH721010ALE600 (Enterprise) 10TB drive, or the HDN721010ALE604 (NAS) 10TB drive. Would there be ANY disadvantages to adding two drives that are obviously not the same FW and not the exact same model (though still HGST 10TB)?

Or what if I added the HGST 12TB HUH721212ALE604 or the HUH721212ALE600?

if speed and access time are the same , it doesn't matter ..all software raid

even if they were different it would still work, just drag speed down
