SATA Port Issue

Post by toricred »

I have a brand new TS-932PX with 4 brand new WD 4TB Red drives. Every minute I'm getting an error as below:

Hardware Status I/O Ports [Hardware Status] A SATA port issue has been detected. ATA: 7. Please contact QNAP technical support.

This is accompanied by a second error at the same time:

Failed to access the drive. Check the drive for errors.

Neither tells me which drive is the problem so I don't know where to start. I have drive bays 2-5 populated, but previously had drive 1 populated with a drive that was dying. Is it possible the first drive is the problem?

could be..did you contact qnap support ?

if you have a brand new NAS ..you should aim for a swap then ..not deal with support at all (check with your reseller)

I got it through Amazon. I've tried contacting support, but no response and I did submit a help request as well. Are they closed on Saturday and Sunday?

I can try, but Amazon says they're out now. I'll try support again on Monday. If I can free up a drive to go in the empty slot then I'll put one in and see if the problem is fixed.

I just saw a note not to set it up next to your router. It's right next to mine. I'll move it tomorrow.

no idea how router proximity would have any effect on your sata port

The review said it could cause random errors due to EMI interference.

This is really weird. I rotated my wifi router before going to bed last night and since then there have been no more SATA Port Issues.
