I have an old gaming pc i5 4690 gtx970 that im planning to convert to NAS but concerned about power consumption or sell it in few years. Also recently bought a 2nd hand qnap ts251a 2bay with 8gb ram.
I have an opportunity to buy this 2nd hand 4 bay with a similar 2016 dual core celeron processor for $67. I have currently 2x8tb nas drive in my 2bay nas used for 720p media tv playing and files storage and a 4tb portable drive for backup which is not sufficient. I habe a 1 and 2tb and planning to purchase another 2x8tb late year for the same purpose.
Ts 451A as a main nas still worthit?

So what is the question ?
Convert a PC to NAS ?
Keep a NAS ?
Buy a NAS?
720p streaming can be done by any NAS ..so that requirement fails to direct

Is ts451a still good in 2021 for my use rather than using the old i5 gaming pc as a nas and bought a new gaming system?

Mostly backup storage of my 2bay nas (media), document storage and tinkering for dockers/owncloud/next cloud/self hosted.

Certainly cheap enough to run. Adds up quite a bit over a year.
