QNAP TS-212 - No Power

Post by behofmann »

Hello,

Lightning struck close to our house causing a power surge through our coax cable to our internet modem/router where my QNAP TS-212 was plugged into one of the ports. Both the modem/router and TS-212 were fried and won't power up. I verified the TS-212 power supply is still outputting 12V DC.

Is there any option to troubleshoot and replace the TS-212 Control Board/NIC to restore power? Also is there any way to verify hard drive integrity since the two drives are operating in a RAID 1 configuration?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hard and Software for the 212 are EOL so a repair will not work

You can either migrate to a new QNAP unit
https://www.qnap.com/en/nas-migration?o ... rce=ts-212

Or read the disks of this CAT1 unit (not that easy with current CAT2 models) in a regular unix distribution (e.g. live boot) // or a Linux Reader for windows
(e.g.) https://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/

After further troubleshooting, I discovered one of my WD 2TB Red drives spins up but won't POST. I put the other drive in another enclosure and Windows mounts it, but can't read it. I suspect this is because the QNAP file system is EXT4? If so, how can I mount this drive so I can retrieve my data?

Thanks,

Brandon

I read your migration link, but I want to simply read the data on this drive as it was part of a RAID on my TS-212.

I plan on purchasing a new 2 bay NAS with higher capacity hard drives and wanted to transfer the data from this older drive to them in a RAID configuration.

Under the migration link is an explanation and a program link to read those drives without a qnap
