QNAP JBOD manager detects as USB 2.0 (even though it is USB 3.0)

Post by saphix »

Hello all,

I am setting up a new QNAP drive storage and ran into a problem.
All the drives are in (everything green LED) and the QNAP (TL-D800C) powers on correctly. I have the device connected to my computer via the supplied USB type-C cable to a USB type-A port on my tower PC.
I have checked the spec sheet of the computers supplier and have confirmed that the QNAP is connected to the correct usb 3 ports. However, when i check the QNAP JBOD manager it says that "the device is connected to an unsupported USB 2.0 port. Connect to device with a USB3.0 or USB3.1 port.".
I am currently running linux on the PC (ubuntu 20.04).
Some additional information:

lsusb without QNAP plugged in:

Everything on the distro side should be updated and upgraded. It seems that the disks are detected fine on the PC side and maybe it is even detected as USB 3.0 according to lsusb?
I am not sure exactly how I should solve this. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Can you please connect the TL-D800C and run 'lsusb' in tree mode? This will display the port and connected device speeds:

Code: Select all

lsusb -t

Any update here as we too are experiencing the same issue for Windows 10 and QNAP JBOD manager doesn't read the TL-R1200C-RP

I'm thinking of buying a TL-D800C. Was this issue ever resolved?

I have the same problem,
when I connect TL-D800C with the supplied cable to a Type-C USB 3.2 port (or a Type-C Thunderbolt port) I get this same error.
If I however connect it with the other supplied cable to a Type-A USB 3.2. port, everything works.
I am on Win 11 with all updates installed. I use ROG Maximus Hero Z690 board.
