qnap enclosure QDA-A2AR

Post by tekmonq »

Hi all,
Does anyone experience with this enclosure.

I was hoping to setup a Raid 5 using 4 Samsung 870 evos (1tb) by passing through the ssds in individual mode in order to get 3tb of storage

Unfortunately, I missed the fine print that individual mode is not supported in QTS
Not sure where to go from here.
JBOD appears to work fine. Both disks are being being recognized.
I think I read somewhere that using RAID 0 on the enclosure controller is not really much of a performance gain.

Any advice/tips are appreciated
TIA

my sytem:
TS-251+ with 16GB of memory
QTS 5.0.0.2055
qnap TR-004 das attached

each of the enclosures has it's own controller, so building a raid spanning several controllers won't work (and as individual mode is not supported, you cannot have qnap handle it)

if you want to build a multi 2.5" raid, you will need to invest in a different qnap model

You can try to exchange this equipment for another model if the seller agrees.

Updates are compromise between old bug patches and new bugs introduced. 8)
