[SOLVED] Hitachi 3Tb HDS723030ALA640 not recognized

Post by michielske » Thu Sep 22, 2011 1:50 am

I have recently buyed 3 x 3Tb hitachi drives.

When i put them in my new qnap TS459PROII they are not recognized.
I tried all 3 of the and no one was recognized.
When i boot the qnap with the drives in it.
Then it doesn't go further then loading driver.
That's what i see on the display.
When i put back my old drives everything is running fine.

The drive info:
HDS7203030ALA640

P/N:
0F12450

S/N: YHGXL1AA

Date:
AUG-2011

I buyed this drives because they were on the compatibility list.
But it doesn't work.

Solution:
After some searching on the net i found the solution:

When i connected the drive to my windows 7 x64 only 746GB was showed in the diskmanager.

Go to:
download Hitachi_GPT_Disk_Manager_v2.0_en from http://www.paragon-software.com/hitachi/
install this

then follow this:

Code: Select all

start cmd.exe from the +R

type “diskpart”
type “select disk ” then drive NUMBER (as found in the computer management/Disk Management)
type “clean”
close the cmd window
Restart your system

Then start the program to convert to GPT.
If you can't select your drive do this again:

start cmd.exe from the +R

type “diskpart”
type “select disk ” then drive NUMBER (as found in the computer management/Disk Management)
type “clean”
close the cmd window
Restart your system

Then format the drive in windows, QUICK NTFS.

Then put the drive in your Qnap.

Now they are recognized well.
QNAP TS-201 , Version 2.5.0 build 0601T
QNAP TS-559PROII , version 3.8.3 Build 20130426
