power consumption issue

Post by keys&sax »

There is a power consumption issue where a reply is only possible for the moderator.

One customer has a problem with a high measurement of the power consumpltion. Stated is that the power unit alone would allready consume 11 Watts >> When the power unit would be using 11 W without anything connected it should turn quite hot. The power unit on the TS209pro in my place stays completly cool so there cannot be that amout of power consumed.

Power measurements on switching power devices is difficult, the steep switching influences a good measurement. This could be happening in the case of use normal multimeters.

Hope this can help explain the problem.

Hi keys&sax,

Thanks for the comments for the possible explanation of the power issue.
I'll forward it to our engineering guys who's probably still trying to clarify this issue at work today.

Andy
