Re: TS-469 Pro RAM Upgrade
Thought I would follow up since no one else did.
I installed the G.SKILL 2GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model F3-10666CL9S-2GBSQ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231214
I initially installed it in the outer mem slot and rebooted. The system did not recognize the new stick. I shut the nas down removed the OEM stick and replaced it with the new G.Skill stick and installed the OEM stick in the outer slot.
Rebooted and all works well. The system recognizes all 3GBs.

G.SKILL 2GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model F3-10666CL9S-2GBSQ worked for me too. Might be the best $16 I've spent as it appears to have resolved CrashPlan backup issues.
I installed it in the spare slot and it worked the first time. I didn't have to swap with the OEM module.

Re: TS-469 Pro RAM Upgrade
On a TS-569 Pro, I used dmidecode to identify my CPU as a D2701.
According to the Intel documentation (see section 1.2) it supports 4GB RAM. http://www.intel.com/content/dam/doc/da ... asheet.pdf It is very explicit about the memory requirements in this document. Edit: But even if you put 4GB of RAM in it, it will be limited to 3GB. Even if you can clearly see the memory is installed and it booted, the kernel is limited to addressing 3GB, possibly by way of software not hardware.
2GB DDR3 1.5v 1333MHz single rank modules were easy to find and cheap. I grabbed one for $8 on ebay to test.
It's a better strategy to replace the 1GB module on the motherboard when testing RAM; you want to isolate your compatibility issues. Also because this is a single channel memory bus, I want to use matching DIMMs. So I removed that 1GB module and installed a 2GB module.
Note the OUT OF SPEC type. I couldn't find anything to indicate if this is an issue or not. Still researching that. Any input appreciated. The memory is clearly available to the NAS, and I need it because I was getting memory errors and had to stop some apps (Plex is a bit of a pig).
I decided to order 2 new modules; these were on sale at my local NCIX for $18 each. http://www.corsair.com/en-ca/corsair-me ... 3m1a1333c9
IMO if you read the documentation carefully its easy to spec memory for this unit. Most people commenting on this topic aren't doing the reading or googling to figure it out.
Code: Select all
[~] # dmidecode | grep CPU

Re: TS-469 Pro RAM Upgrade
I tried a Crucial SO-DIMM and it did not work. I then purchased this Corsair CMSO2GX3M1A1333C9 and it works like a champ. I installed it in the additional slot and it has been working now for 6 days.
Thank you all for the help.

Re: TS-469 Pro RAM Upgrade
I've just install this module HMT325S6CFR8C that I had laying around and is working perfectly!
Here the specs: https://www.skhynix.com/eolproducts.vie ... &rc=module
Will let you know if some problem comes up. Hopefully none!

Re: TS-469 Pro RAM Upgrade
I can put this ram 2gb (Geil GS32GB1333C9SC or Corsair CM3X2GSD1066) In a primary slot? (The one on the inside of the motherboard?) Or I misread me just above when someone said that the interior is a single channel?
