TS-869 Pro slow write performance

Post by abasko »

Hi,

First of all Excuise me for my bad english. And I don't know that here is right place for my problem.

I have two qnap NAS Storage one of them TS-809 Pro ( Firmware 3.8.6 ) another is TS-869 pro (Firmware 4.3.3.0361 )
Now I have trouble with TS-869 pro.
Two years ago I used TS-869 Pro without problem but I removed all disks and I shelved it for some reasons.
One month ago I decided to use TS-869 pro and bought 8 Pcs new WD WD30EFX 3 TB (64 mb cache 5400 RPM) Nas disks. I updated firmware (I couldnt remember old version) set up with Raid 6. Sometimes later I realized that TS-869 Pro has poor disk write performance 25 GB/ Per Hour.
I thought ethernet interface has poor performance swicht to other ethernet and same result.
I disabled all app and services only run Windows sharing service all of other service disabled nothing changed.
after that I noticed that TS-869 read performance is seven times faster more than write performance about 300 gb ~ 400 gb per hour.
I thought that WD has poor write performance and changed all WD disk to seagate VX 35 ST3000VX000-1CU166 (SATA) model but again nothing changed.
I got support from locale qnap service but they controlled all settings but they couldnt find any problem they sad everythings are normal but if I want I can downgrade firmware to 4.2. I did what they sad but again nothing changed.

Meanwhile the write speed of my other device (TS-809 pro) is 250 GB / per hour it has 8 pcs SAMSUNG 2 TB 5400 RPM disk with raid 6.

What do you think about what is the problem of TS-869 Pro ? And howto resolve them ?

Best Regards

I am also experiencing slowness on my TS-869Pro. Just by right clicking the folders inside, it takes about 8-10 seconds sometimes more to load the menu. It was not like this before. We are just half of our usage in the storage. Any settings that we need to do or change to improve the performance?

Try connecting the 869 to the 809 via VJBOD (start with a small test). The ISCSI connection will partly use the 809 processor and you may get better performance out of the 869.
You will have to update firmware on the 809.
I suspect later firmware v4 slows down older models.

What SMB version are you set at? What are your advanced settings? What Windows versions are connecting to it? Also would update to latest 4.3.3 release to rule out QTS version quirk.
