Hello! I am new here,
I have a TS231 and TS230 as data storage and backups of the first. I have been looking for an answe to my issue several times on internet but I never found an answer or solution.
The point is that I have windows and Mac machines, everything is on Gigabit Ethernet, but I found (compared to what in the internet appears) a weird slow behaviour in the file transfer situation with my NAS (both).
I have several think volumes in both NAS, and If I copy files from my Mac or PC to the public folder (allocated in the volume where the system is) it goes lovely good (above 100MB/s). However if U do the same to a shared folder in a different volumes it goes about 16-25MB/s.
Is this normal? Why is this happening? Any solution, recommendation, etc?
Thank you in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
What is your NAS firmware version please?
Are you using volume encryption and/or shared-folder encryption?

Re: Slow transfer speed to non-public folder
Hello!,
thank you!! In both devices the firmware is 4.5.4.1787 (latest).
- All the Thick volumes are at the same storage pool.
- The folders with the slow transfer speed issue are configured with SMB encryption disabled (is there more encrypting configurations?), ABE and ABSE are enabled.
Thank you in advance!
