Qsync renames files and folders arbitrarily appending with _conflict_(0)

Post by surferkhaled »

Hello,

Anyone seen this behaviour before?
Files just start being renamed as you can see below appended with _conflict_(0) - no idea what is causing this, but it's happening on only one machine , a macbook with OS Catalina.
in some cases a new folder is created with the _conflict_(0) appended and then data seems to be distributed between the two folders, so it's a nightmare to consolidate and make sure all the files are put back into the original folder.

I've removed the NAS and disabled qsync until I can figure out what this thing is trying to do.

Code: Select all

I have never used Qsync .. but it could be a permission issue.

Does the user/workstation in question have the same permissions ?

I'm not sure I follow you - same permissions as what?
The user has an account on the NAS and this has been working fine until I think when QNAP introduced a new feature a few weeks ago, now to think about it, the model is TVS-871T and since purchasing a few years ago, I have been using qsync without this issue, this is a recent issue so something changed, however, I am unable to pinpoint it.
with spelling and grammatical errors in the long, it's not clear what "can not replace to file" means??
Thanks for your replies in any case.

Oh I thought you said there were other computers that had no problems with Qsync.

Unless anyone else has any ideas (I have no Mac and as said never used Qsync), a ticket with QNAP should be opened

Oh, yes, sorry, I misunderstood - there is another machine, a windows machine which I'm currently using as a test box to monitor if the same thing happens, however, so far I have not seen this behaviour.

I'll get a ticket open - I've never opened a ticket before, is it via an email address that you could kindly share?

Thanks.

I would love to know more about this. I am having the same issues. Spent an hour "renaming or removing" the conflicted files only to have them all come right back 3 days later. Sync was on the entire time. This may sound odd, but I feel that every single file that was changed, I had edited or modified at one point over the last year. Those are getting flagged conflicts, but files that other people at my company have used are not.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem...
I have two laptops.. Macbook Pro 13 and 15
My QSync folder is renaming folders somehow because both computers sync to the QSync folder.
However... I have not been able to find out why.
It is making a HUGE MESS of my folder structure
If anyone figured this out I'd be real happy.
Also.. it did not always do this.
It started with an updated the QSync agent a few months ago.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Two weeks ago I decided to just go file by file and rename them all "without a conflict" and monitored which ones had modifed or changed dates to make sure I had the most recent file.

I spent hours correcting the 2-3 shares I had along with all the sub folders. Everything was working perfectly fine for about 10 days until about 1 hour ago... within an hour I have hundreds of duplicated "conflict" files. This is making Qsync unusable at this point.

I am on a Mac Running the most recent software (no beta) I am running Qsync 5.0.1.0802 Please advise on what we can do to resolve this. If we cannot get this situation sorted out we are going to have to find a different sync solution between our PC's and Macs.

I ve the same problem. Until 21.Oct2021 Qsync was working fine with 2 laptop syncing a share folder.
Laptop1 with windows10
Laptop2 with MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6
on the mac, I see now new folders which seems copy of the original folder but renamed with "_conflict_(0)" sometimes even triple folder
as example:
foldername
foldername_conflict_(0)
foldername_conflict_(0)_conflict_(0)

the files seems randomly split between these folders makeing it a nightmare to concatenate

any help will be appreciate

Hi surferkhaled did you get an answer?
I've also created a ticket myself.
As this has been happening at random dates (random to me). The first time I'd noticed this was August 22nd 2021 and now a few times in October. But in October I lost the original directories and only was left with the _conflict_(0)_ variants and no files on my Mac. They are on the QNAP but I'm losing my faith in this backup solution this way. Besides it's a hassle getting them back.

4.5.4.1800 build 20210923 (It started when I was running 4.5.4.1741 build 20210726)
macOS Catalina
Qsync: 5.0.1.0802

Any help appreciated,

Patrick
