Hi there,
I have recently installed a TS-473A and I have made a "Network-location-filder" in Explorer.
When I click on this link, the explorer directly opens the netword folder, without a username and password.
The other (older) NAS TS-269-Pro always needs a username and password the first time it's used after starting the computer.
How can I change the login for the TS-473A that it reacts the same?
Please let me know.
RInie

Re: Login with password
If the user on the windows machine is a user on the NAS(with permissions on the share) then credentials automatically match and the user is authenticated.
Or of guest login is active on the NAS, it would also not ask for user and password.
you need to check how you set the shares up.

Re: Login with password
As a third option, you may have entered the required credentials the first time and clicked the "save credentials" check box. It won't, or shouldn't, ask you again.

Re: Login with password
Hi there,
When I create a share to one of the NAS folders, we also don't need a password.
I really prefere a share in the explorer that asks for a password, the first time it connects.
After each start of the computer I want the NAS to wait for the proper password again.
This to protect the data against ransomware and other problems like this.
Is it possible to change this?
Please let me know.

Re: Login with password
as said, have the users on the nas different from the workstation users and see if there is a user policy or reg key to disable password saving for network shares

Re: Login with password
Control Panel - User Accounts - Manage your Credentials - Windows Credentials.
You'll find you login info for you NAS shares in there.....you can edit or delete.
