Samba Is DEAD after upgrade to QTS 5.0

Post by jacob_huang »

TS-453Bmini
QTS 5.0.0.1986

After upgarde yesterday, suddenly the smb connections are all dead. After some investigation, I connected to SSH.

And I tried to run smb2status
"/usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd" ... not found.

And I tried restart smb by using
[~] # /etc/init.d/smb.sh restart

Restarting SMB services:
Shutting down SMB services: smbd smbd-notifyd cleanupd mdssd-master mdssd-child nmbd.
/etc/init.d/winbind: line 7: /usr/local/samba/sbin/winbindd: No such file or directory

Looks like it is very wrong that the /usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd and /usr/local/samba/sbin/winbindd are missing...

What should I do ???

Tried various things the smbd it not coming back... If I upgrade fireware for next version, will the smbd coming back ? I am using DLINA for media streaming, and FTP to upload file. I am fine without SMB for now. Not sure if the smbd cann be reinstall in a manualy way, any suggestion is appreciated!

This may be just a guess, because I have been having access problems over just the last few days but...

in the Control Panel \ Network & File Services \ Win Mac NFS \ Microsoft \ area, go down to the Advanced Options button.

There seems to be a new section down there. I removed the restrictions in the anonymous users sections and my ability to access files with Windows Explorer came back. I've been doing so much fiddling to get this all back working I'm starting to forget just exactly what I've changed.

any setting in GUI would not break/delete the SMB service, as posted further up

Stranger things have happened. And what is the cost of trying when nothing else is working ?

Op should try to reinstall the firmware , has helped often with exactly the described issues (plenty of threads about it)
