Protect images

I am a newbie to QNAP/Linux and like to change the file permission. At my windows system I set for all my images the "protected" attribute to avoid changes. I do not know how to do this at my NAS. Is it enough to set the "protected" attribute by my smb access in windows? Otherwise, how can I protect my images from unwanted changes in QNAP NAS? Even the system should be excluded from the ability to edit the file so that I can archive the original version.

admin will always ave write access to the files

if you only want certain users to have write access, set this in your permissions (read only)

And as always, backups backups backups

That the admin user can edit everything is clear.
However, can I set it up that existing files are only readable but the folder is writeable in an easy way? Is the file-based right management with editing each file rights manually the only way?

If you have a QuTS or QES NAS you can setup WORM folders

But then all files are read only in that folder..a mix is not possible

Unfortunately, I do not have these OS versions. Then, I will go with the manual way. Thanks
