Qsync Pro Not working for me.

Post by chiquito3 »

Hi,

I have a TS-453D NAS and I have not been able to connect remotely or even locally with the application Qsync Pro.
Any advice?

By so much information?
Which QTS version? Which Qsync Central version?
Which client OS and Qsync version?

Connecting remotely? Hopefully not by using myqnapcloud!

Regards

Thanks for your reply. These are my versions.
QTS 5.0.1.2145
QSync Central Ver. 4.4.0.8 (20220606)
Qsync Pro 1.4.12.0310

I'm trying to connect for the first time so I've tried all options that the Qsync Pro gives.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Oh, sorry about that.
Yes, I'm connecting remotely, but I have not been able to connect from home either.

Make sure you do not expose any part of your NAS to WAN, only connect via VPN (does not cost anything) to your LAN devices (like the NAS)

For which OS is that? Windows/Mac running a 5.0.6.xxxx./5.0.4.xxxx version.
Ubuntu is a 1.0.8.xxxx.

How do I connect via VPN without subscribing to a VPN service?
I'm subscribed to Surfshark and I did the setting they recommend in QVPN, but I'm not sure that it is working.
I guess that is a question that I should post apart from the Qsync one unless the issue is my VPN settings.

Ok, did not use Qsync at Android, only Qfile (seems to have better configuration options in my eyes).
A VPN server service should be setup at firewall/router. If router does not provide such an option, consider to replace it with a better model or install a VPN server at a dedicated device (i.e. openVPN at a raspberry Pi).
For Android a VPN client software named StrongSwan is available, this is, what I am using at my mobile devices.
Protocol is IKEv2. If you prefer Wireguard there is also a Wireguard client for Android available.
I am using both and do sometimes using StrongSwan, sometimes Wireguard.

People have been brainwashed to think of annonymizer VPN services when they hear the term 'VPN' .. but as FSC830 writes.. this has no use in this remote access VPN scenario

I guess is my fall that we deviate from my original question.
I still have not been able to connect with Qsync to my NAS locally or remotely.
Can you please help me resolve that issue first?

Well lets forget and disable remote access...what is the exact error message you get when you try to connect from a LAN device

And what settings did you set at the mobile device for the NAS login?
Best (IMHO) is to set the (LAN) IP address instead of any name.

I managed to connect from a local computer using the external IP Address. I have to confirm if that would work outside my network.
I still have not succeeded in connecting from my android phone.
