Share folder over internet

Hello,

My QNAP TS-253A is connected with the internet via Cloudlink.

I would like to share a folder with a friend so that he can save files in the folder.

I could not find how to share a folder over the internet. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks for your reply! Apologies for not being precise enough regarding my issue...

- I have a myQNAPcloud account and I activated the CloudLink services;
- I am able to create and share a link and send it to my friends;
- They are able to download files after clicking the link;
- HOWEVER, there is no 'upload' button while I checked the 'allow uploads to this folder' checkbox when I created the link!

In short, my issue is that the UPLOAD BUTTON is not available for friends that receive my link via email.

PS or will my friends need a myQNAPcloud account and a privileged user on my NAS as well in order to upload files to a shared folder?

Issue solved, I know have the upload button.

It works as follows. If 'device access controls' in the 'access control' tab is set to

1) 'private', then there will never be an upload button;
2) 'customized', then your friends have to log in with a myQNAPcloud account and you have to add their accounts to the 'access control' tab if they need to upload files to your shared folder;
3) 'public', then your friends don't need a myQNAPcloud account. The upload button will be available for anyone that receives the link...

I go for option 2 and ask my friends to create a myQNAPcloud account.

No.

So, if you must share files, do it as safely as possible. The usual recommendation is to run a VPN server in your router, and force WAN clients to authenticate with it.

thanks not a bad idea. I am pushing all photos to amazon photos.
Turns out it doesnt charge for raw files.

This solved a big problem for me and my friends sharing all together our pics in one folder

BUT - they can only upload a photo/video one by one.
So each picture must be selected, uploaded and saved.
Than pick the next file and upload it...

Is there a way without zipping them before?
(because most of my friends are old and not so good with edv...).
