Java Plugin support

Post by NAS-26 »

Hello all
The current Firefox stopped to support the Java Plugin and Java themselves will not provide this plugin anymore (from JDK 9 on, see https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/jdk9_plugin.xml).
Does anybody know whether QNAP is working on a solution for the file station without the Java Plugin. I had to install a special Firefox version to get it run anyway

Hi kherr, doesn't chrome also use the Java Plugin? If so, it's just a matter of time until this plugin is also not supported anymore in chrome.

I prefer WINSCP. Faster, easier to use, bugless (for non-US users) than filestation.

Hello all
Up to now my original question is not answered yet. Does anybody know of a development for a Java alternative?

There can be no alternative run in the Web browser permitting physical or logical access to the local system file system. So never File Station with local access anymore. Nothing QNAP can do - it's "the" industry standard now: It's named security.

@schumaku: I wasn't aware that this Java Plagin was only used for accessing the local file system. It's definitely something I don't need and I completely agree, that this HAS TO BE rejected from the QNap in spite of the secutity. Question is answered for me - thanks.
