Local groups not working with SMB sharing?

Post by max_well »

Hi,

I've a TS-853A running 4.3.3.0154 . I created a few shares, some with local user permissions and some with local group permissions and, when I tried to connect via samba, after some trial and error I realize: I can only properly connect to shares why my connected user is directly configured, not when he's just part of the group which is supposed to have rights on this share.

Is this a known issue? Or are local groups not working with SMB sharing?

thanks,
- Max

Hi Max,

Hm, strange. Making use of local groups for managing shared folder access on man work group NAS here only - works as expected.

Is there a potential influence of the everyone group (which is what it's name says), or there are simply some obsolete authenticated connections still active from the test workstation?

Test the functionality from scratch, create a new group and stick the user in there, does it work then.
Then go back and re-examine the problem group.

Thanks, I tried and can't reproduce it :|

Thanks :-)
