Is it possible to access NAS Shared folders through Windows File Explorer when away from the local network?

Post by Qdrive123 »

Hi,

Is it possible to access files on the NAS through windows file explorer when outside the local network? If so how is this done? I can access files from the NAS away from the local network, but unsure how to setup a remote windows file explorer connection when away from the local network.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Use a VPN. Preferably with your router. If the router doesn't support VPN then use OpenVPN on the NAS.
Use the forum search feature before posting.

Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.
