Thought this to be a good place for this question...
My Qnap TS-453 Pro has the app QVPN on it.
I have a VPN connection... it shows me the public IP address and everything i need.
Then i have my myqnapcloud DDNS setup.
Everything goes through the default gateways, so i've checked all those options within the menu's.
But..... when i ping my DDNS i get my plain IP-address from my ISP (instead of my VPN IP-address) so it is still on the "unsafe" network.
Any ideas are welcome and thanks for reading.
Danny

DDNS will always update the public IP address from your Internet connection.
Do you expect that incoming connections from the Internet to your NAS will go to the VPN provider - what would require a public IP address for each VPN session on their side what is somewhat unlikely?

Not sure what you mean, but i want to connect my NAS to a VPN service (which i did but only through ISP ip address apparently ).schumaku wrote:DDNS will always update the public IP address from your Internet connection.

That way i can connect my phone up through the VPN tunnel.

Re: VPN obstacle (clueless)
What is your configuration like?
Traffic come in:
Router (public IP) --> PC or NAS (VPN)
Outgoing Traffic:
01) PC (without VPN) --> Webserver (can see ISP IPs)
02) PC (with VPN) --> Webserver (only see VPN IPs)
03) PC (without VPN but with Proxy) --> NAS (with Proxy-Server and VPN-Client) --> Webserver (can only see VPN IPs)
At home in your own networt, you could only reach your NAS with the intern 192.168.X.X IP Adress.
When ur NAS is connected to a VPN Server and update it's IP at your DDNS Service, than u will get ur VPN IP behind ur domain...
I have a similar Problem here:

Hopefully i have understand everything so far. Please don't hesitate to correct me !!
