[Question] - How to share files between QNAP's?

Post by level42 » Tue May 01, 2018 10:42 pm

I recently picked up a second "ARM" based QNAP for additional storage, seeing as how it can't really run any further software, I'd like to set it up so that my "x86" QNAP can read/write files to the "ARM" QNAP. If at all possible.

For Example:
- "X86" QNAP runs PLEX, and I'd like to be able to add a library from the "ARM" QNAP

I haven't been able to find anything on line, so I was wondering if someone here could help shed some light on the issue.

No information provided on other NAS model nor firmware versions running on both so difficult to assist.
Read the Online Manuals and use the forum search feature before posting.

Use RAID with external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

Submit bugs and feature requests to QNAP via their Helpdesk app.

Sorry, I have the following:

TS-870-PRO Firmware version 4.3.4.0435 Build 20171230
- This is the main server which runs Plex, as it's an X86 unit, it is compatible with QTS 4.3

TS-859-PRO+ Firmware version 4.2.6 Build 20171208
- This is the new spare unit which will simply house data that the 870-PRO should access. Not compatible with QTS 4.3

It has the Intel Atom CPU in it, doesn't that mean it's ARM based? or is that exclusively the Marvel CPU?

Regardless, it has little to do with my issue, and doesn't help answer my question.

Intel Atom have full x86/x64 instruction sets .. so a regular CPU not ARM

well it can run Plex, and you could aggregate two plex instances .. so it can lead to a solution
