I have a TS-253a NAS that is serving files to about 20 Windows clients. The files are typically PDF blueprints or drawing files like DWG. I am looking for a way to read/write metadata to these files to indicate the revision level of the blueprint. I would then like to have a column in Windows File Explorer detail view that shows this revision level to the users.
My understanding is that the TS-253 serves the files via a Samba server. The Samba server does not share some of the EXT4 "Extended Attributes" metadata such as "user.comments". I have found some documentation about using vfs_streams_xattr for sharing this metadata as ADS (Alternate Data Streams) to NTFS, but I have been hesitant to make changes to the smb.config file on the NAS. - https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/curren ... ttr.8.html
Does anyone know how to accomplish this?
FTP Server, File Server, DDNS, SAMBA, AFP, NFS
