QNAP slow transfer speed over Gigabit Network
I do not know what is wrong with my setup.
My QNAP TS-228 is giving me approximately 10 MBps transfer speed (PC to QNAP and vice versa).
QNAP (gigabit port) is connected to PC (gigabit ethernet card) through CAT5e cables to gigabit router and gigabit switches.
Please help to identify what is wrong with my setup?
Is it because my QNAP is a low-end unit (but why having a gigabit port)?

Re: QNAP slow transfer speed over Gigabit Network
Maybe worth testing your cables or replacing them or trying different ones just in case they are faulty.
as to you setup, what AV do you use on your PC? AV can and will scan incoming/outgoing data to scans may slow down transfer speed.
Also what hard disk setup do you have on your NAS?
Model of Hard disk/Raid Setup.
not sure if you are able to run this command in an SSH session but it can give speed related stats for Hard disk/raid setup.
SSH:
As I said it may not work on your NAS but try it anyhow. post the report if it works.

Re: QNAP slow transfer speed over Gigabit Network
I use windows defender, however even if I turn it off, I did not see any changes in transfer speed.
Hard disk setup in my PC : 1 256GB SSD and 1 512GB Sata HDD.
I did not know how to run SSH session for that purpose.
However, using windows software "LAN speed test", this is the results:

Re: QNAP slow transfer speed over Gigabit Network
looks like you have a 100Mbit/s segment somewhere
check all connection speeds involved
check all connection speeds involved

Re: QNAP slow transfer speed over Gigabit Network
connect nas and pc directly for a test (fixed ip and not dhcp)
see what the test then says
see what the test then says

Re: QNAP slow transfer speed over Gigabit Network
Cables can limit speed. check they all are Cat5e or higher and are not damaged, make sure all twisted pairs are working correctly with an ethernet cable tester.

Re: QNAP slow transfer speed over Gigabit Network
you also can check the connection speed in windows or the NAS (Control Panel > Network & Virtual Switch, the interface section shows you the Network speed)

Re: QNAP slow transfer speed over Gigabit Network
it says: 1 Gbps
therefore it means that qnap is connected with a gigabit speed, right?
below for reference the screenshot:
