30 seconds to start copy, sure wake on lan isn't on?
Try direct connections and bypass switch to test concurrent load to both PCs. Maybe your switch is the issue?

Re: Copying files via samba slow to start
The 30 seconds wait is only the first time (after powering on the NAS)
I have it scheduled to turn off at night and back on in the afternoon. Usually the first copy to the NAS will take a while to start. After that it's fine, I can copy files for the remainder of the evening, at various intervals, without issue. And I know the disks have definitely spun up as someone is generally streaming a TV show from it at the time. Pretty sure it's not the switch, I had the same issue with previous switches, and this one is a relatively new 16 port netgear. Don't have issues copying data between any other PCs on the network.

That sounds exactly the same as my problem -first transfer after a restart is almost always slow to start.skypx wrote:I have been experiencing something similar, however in my case, the slow to start transfer only presents itself after a restart.
