Error logging into QVR Pro Client

Post by Slickums » Thu Sep 17, 2020 8:38 am

I have the following hardware/firmware:

QNAP TS-251 (x64) Firmware 4.4.3

Surveillance Station

PC: Linux Mint 20

QVR Pro Client v1.3.0 (2019/09/23)

The camera is recognized and am recording video stream in QNAP. Config shows all good, connected, etc. But I need to see the video on the PC, so installed QVR Pro Client on linux.

The install appears ok, and I can execute the run.sh file and get the login menu. That is as far as I can get. Logging in using the QNAP normal admin login I get the error: "A remote server error has occurred". I have verified the login QNAP IP address, etc. I can access the QNAP via SSH w/o any problems.

The only thing I can find is when I start it from the CLI, I get this error:

Code: Select all

$ bash run.sh
screen dpi: 26
No gpu warning list
log4cplus:ERROR PropertyConfigurator::configureAppenders()- Cannot find AppenderFactory: log4cplus::Win32DebugAppender
I have no clue what this is or if it is even applicable to my 'server error' problem. I got the client file from the QNAP site:

QVRProClientInstaller-1.3.0.1-ubuntu-1604.tgz when extracted has the file QVRProClientInstaller-1.3.0.1-ubuntu-1604.run. That setups the install in the folder QVRProClient in my Home directory and the run.sh file.

So I think I have the right install stuff, tho possibly missing some library but it is not defined as far as I can tell.

I do have a dual network setup on the NAS:

The NAS uses the normal 192.168.0.x IP scheme and connects directly to the ISP's router using DHCP.

The camera connects to a secondary router using a 192.168.5.x IP scheme. So when I first set it up and it didn't work, I connected the second port on the NAS to my secondary router so got a dual network scheme. That worked and everything I can look at in Surveillance Station appears normal and is recording the camera data stream properly.

So this "server error" when I attempt to login with the QVR Pro Client is my remaining problem.

Any ideas?

QVR Pro Client can't connect to Surveillance Station directly.
You need to install QVR Center and add your Surveillance Station server to QVR Center managed server list.
(QVR Center and Surveillance Station can be installed on the same machine.)

And then, you can use the client to connect your QVR Center. (Choose QVR Center in login dialog)

As implied in the previous post - the QVR Pro client is associated with QVR Pro, not Surveillance Station.
TS-431+ for storage and media and a bunch of IP cams under Surveillance Station. TVS-473 as files backup and QVR Pro.

Thanks guys! I had overlooked those connections.

Looking closer at them, it appears the QVR Pro Client and Surveillance Station are essentially the same animal. I installed the Pro Client, thinking I would set that up like the Surveillance Station and then just uninstall the SS. But could not get the Pro Client to connect to camera using the same settings that SS was happy with.

So, went ahead and installed the QVR Center and was able to get it to connect with SS, so all is good. Uninstalled Pro Client as it was not doing me a bit of good taking up space and disk resources.

Thanks for putting me straight!
