Using QVR Pro Server, how does backing up to a NAS work? Can I use an NFS share or does it require SAMBA?
What is the process of viewing the backed up surveillance footage? Like if I wanted to view a particular camera during a particular time?

NFS vs SMB Comparison Key Differences
https://cloudinfrastructureservices.co.uk/nfs-vs-smb/Difference between NFS and SMB
-NFS is more appropriate for Linux users, while SMB is more appropriate for Windows users
-NFS is case sensitive, while SMB is not case sensitive. This creates a big difference when it comes to a particular search
-NFS is faster in comparison to SMB when you are reading or writing several medium or small files. NFS is also fast while browsing
-NFS uses a host based verification system, while SMB uses a user based verification system
-NFS is suitable for Linux, where the operation is very straightforward. It is very quick and simple to set up. But it has problems with authentication since it uses a client IP address, and it becomes difficult to separate multiple users from a single machine. SMB, on the other hand, is more monotonous but allows user based verification, multiple access at the same time, and printer sharing
-NFS without encryption on Linux is the best choice for maximum performance in trusted home based networks. SMB is the protocol of choice for Windows servers

Re: Backing up to NAS?
Hello Moogle Stiltzkin,
Thanks for your help. I have 8 QNAPs running QVR Pro server, each with 20-30 cameras. I apologize if I wasn't clear. I wasn't asking how NFS worked, or the differences between NFS and SAMBA. I was specifically asking if I could use an NFS share for a backup, since it didn't mention it online or in the manual.
Additionally I wanted to know if I could view the backed up surveillance files without having to re-import them into QVR Pro Server. For example, if I wanted to view the footage from a particular camera, on a particular day. Can I view it directly from the NAS Backup storage?

Re: Backing up to NAS?
Make sure you don't treat your NAS as a backup device. its a Storage device. Backups are run from the NAS to either another NAS, USB Device or other storage away from the original NAS. Failing to backup your NAS just means when your RAID fails, (and it will one day), you'll loose everything.
