Upgraded to new NAS, can i move my license i purchased?

Post by rop »

I just upgraded from a 219+ to a 412Mini, and had a license for e third camera on the 219+. Is it posible to move the license to the new QNAP? And if so how?

Yes, it is possible, I have done this.
You need to deactivate the licence (SS 'Licence Management' menu), get the deactivation code, the original activation code, and submit a HelpDesk ticket requesting a transfer.

TS-431+ for storage and media and a bunch of IP cams under Surveillance Station. TVS-473 as files backup and QVR Pro.

Deactivated my camera and submited my ticket last thursday, but no response yet... Any idea how long this can take? as there is no SLA on the ticket.

Mine took quite a few days - I did have to chase the ticket a few times, it got assigned around a bit.

Did you ever get a reply? Did the transfer work out?

Just a heads up for anyone who needs help with something similar.
Even though there is a Helpdesk link to move your license via the license store, do not use this link as you won't get any response.
Please use https://helpdesk.qnap.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit and you will get a prompt reply and they will fix the problem on moving your license.

Additional camera licenses are not transferable - so when your old NAS dies and the licenses are on it, you need to purchase new additional camera licenses

See here..
https://software.qnap.com/surveillance-station.html
The license is issued to only one NAS and is non-transferable
