camera recommendation s

Post by jasonn »

I recently purchased a ts-453a and i want to add 4 cameras, what do people recommend to keep price down. I also have some general question about spec selections

-All POE
-3 outdoor (bullet or dome, don't care)
-1 indoor, lowest profile possible
-no wifi, sd card needed
-prefer zoom, but not necessary
**a camera not constantly trying to contact china with my data

whats the best way to decide on zoom

any cheaper (under $200 ptz options?)

That's enough of an open-ended question it's hard to give a useful answer.
But there is lots of reading material around that would help you firm up on the choices and tradeoffs.
Take a look around here - and check out varifocal vs PTZ, low-light performance, the significance of ppf, why more pixels isn't necessarily better and more:

i'll probably end up with some more basic ip cameras, PTZ is a pipe dream. mostly looking for manufacture and series of cameras that wont spy on me and provide decent resolution, zoom vs fixed will be a decision based on price

Well, you are spoiled for choice.
You can go for big-brand safe choices like these : https://xinray.aliexpress.com/store/gro ... 0.0.LIYh3Z
Or you could go for cheap pig-in-a-poke choices like these, probably still perfectly good, maybe less refined but functional : https://besdertech.aliexpress.com/store ... 0.0.NFdEVS
Or the massive range of in-between Longse products such as these : https://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/ ... 0.0.wIv2nA

By the way - bullet format is very troublesome for spider webs, causing lots of unwanted motion alerts. Domes can be quite troublesome for IR reflection and flare, and water spots.
The so-called turret (eyeball) style works well, and has a better type of IR, stronger and more even spread.
As I said - spoiled for choice.
