Hi, I'm new on surveillance station. How can we record only when motion is detected? Actually the NAS record 24h 7/7 and I think we can only record when motion is detected right?

Thanks you for your advice!

not quite sure what all the confusion is about ..record on motion events, is a default function of surveillance station and qvr

Depends on what device you want to signal the motion detection.
The feature is available by default for all cameras which are supported and feature motion detection onboard. It is in the stream/camera setup.
QVR has an additional motion detection done by the QVR software itself and for some idiotic reason is only available for "supported cameras" which already have onboard detection and is not available to "generic" camera types for which QVR cannot get the motion signal...

communicate that issue to qnap so they can enable motion detection on generic cameras as well

Already did this and after a couple of exchanges where I got a completely useless generic template response asking me for information I either provided or was irrelevant... got the as useless response: "Sorry for the inconvenience, we do not support generic camera devices"
