How do I recover my camera licenses?

Post by shark92651 »

My QNAP TS-251 had issues the other day and I had to perform a reset (hold reset button on rear of unit for 10 seconds) in order to be able to get the UI to display in my browser. I think it was related to a failing hard drive, which I have now replaced, but anyway after the reset I lost all my applications and have to re-install and re-configure everything. Because of this my Surveillance Station will now only let me add 2 of my 4 cameras as it has lost the license information for the additional 2 cameras which I purchased a couple years ago. So far customer support is not very helpful as they are just pointing me to a help page that instructs me on how to add a license, but from the screen show below you can see the license is already installed but Surveillance Station is not seeing it. Can anyone offer any advice on how to move forward?

Yeah, so far they don't seem to understand what my issue is or how to address it. I gave them the same info and screenshots here and so far all they can do is point me to a document on how to purchase and install a license.

I was able to find my license email from 2016 with the PAK.txt file in a .zip. It's password protected! This is so frustrating.

Interesting, that could take awhile. I may try it though. According to this link from QNAP the password is stored on my account, but the online portal has been changed extensively since then and I can't find it anywhere, nor any record of my past license purchases.

Ok so this is finally resolved. Apparently the back-end website for managing licenses changed completely depending on the firmware of your NAS. Apparently after I upgraded to 4.4 all the information about my previous licenses was missing from the new UI. There is actually a link you have to click to get the old interface and there was my prior purchases. Why in the world QNAP didn't just bring existing license data into the new website, I don't understand. Anyway, here is the link you have to click to get to the old website. Once there I could see my PAK for the license and could use it to "manually add" it in the NAS License Center app.

A client of ours bought an NVR Viostor 2208+ Pro several years ago.
This Viostor supposedly had 12 licenses.
I've upgraded it and then noticed I couldn't add a 5th camera.

I have now downgraded it several times and it's on 2015 firmware now, but still only a maximum of 4 camera's.

Why is this so messed up? Why do I even need to bother with registration and a website?
Give me back to 12 camera licenses for which you were paid!!!

I've been robbed.

I don't think this user forum can help you with that.
You need to submit a HelpDesk request to QNAP to fix this.
TS-431+ for storage and media and a bunch of IP cams under Surveillance Station. TVS-473 as files backup and QVR Pro.

- No QNAP here ..so no need to rant in a user forum
- Necropost (contacting QNAP was already mentioned in 2019, in the second post)
