What are the best home secuirty cameras?

Post by TeePee3NAS »

I recently installed HIKVision and Reolink cameras at home and found them very easy to install and operate with QVR. The HIKVision Hikvision DS-2CD2365G1-I 6MP (PoE) was inexpensive, has excellent night vision, and very good quality images. The Reolink E1 Zoom (WiFi) works well monitoring a room. Images aren't as sharp but pretty good.

Has anyone had any particularly good experiences with other cameras worth mentioning?

Amcrest have a number of rebranded Duaha models that are ok. I have two and they are reliable.
Just stick with wired.

Maybe worth a visit here - loads of user reviews, experiences, problems solved, camera info etc :

And quite a lot about Reolink ...

I would also second Dahua but am reserved about amcrest. I have a mix of both and the amcrest firmwares not only are missing features but also when wired tend to crash in relation to QNAP's virtual switches. They don't seem to handle QNAP's surveillance station or QVR pro switching network ports and just decide to hang. The Dahua ones don't have this problem and are also cheaper on aliexpress.

Many Amcrest cameras are rebranded Dahua models these days.
The dumbed-down Amcrest firmware can in some cases be replaced by the equivalent model Dahua firmware, smartening the camera up a lot.

I share concerns about old Amcrest firmware however...
The cameras are reliable and work just fine
The two I have are listed on QVRPro
The sub £80 price worked for me

I am on the hunt for a new 4k POE PTZ dome camera. So anyone with thoughts would be helpful. Right now I am running two older JideTech 1080 PTZ POE Dome cameras that work surprisingly well for the past 2 years.
