Have you tried to map a network drive (via GUI) with alternative credentials? either admin or a freshly added account with permissions to the share you are mapping

Now I did and that worked!
Not sure why this is working but looks like the credentials of the user were stored somewhere anyway.....

What if there is no smb2client file; but SMB is enabled via the web GUI??
