Making folders read only for self when you are admin.

Post by alifnoon »

Hi,

I own a TVS-1282 and my QTS is 4.3.3. I need help with a permissions scenario.

The user ID I use is part of Administrators group. I have a shared folder that I want to make read only for me.

I have critical files that I do not want to change or delete but I need read access to them. If I can make read only then I would have to go thorough extra step of explicitly setting permissions, thus adding a layer of protection.

So far I have been unable to do so, since I am part of the admin group. Even when I set permissions to read only they stay read/write. I am assuming due to my Admin status.

Is there a way to accomplish what i am trying?

Thanks for the help.

create a group "sub" admin and add everyone that (apparently) needs to be member of the admin group to that group, then remove access to that folder from that group
