I can't access the shares on my new (RMA) unit. I have 3 windows7 computers on my network that all have the same user (administrator level) account...same problem on each.
Model TVS-463
-I can access the web gui via IP address...no problem
-Trying to access "\\NEWQNAS\Public" in Windows Explore = Window cannot access \\NEWQNAS\Public
-Trying to access "\\192.168.0.XX\Public" in Windows Explore = You don't have permission to access /Public/ on this server.
By what I can see, this seems to be a permission issue but I'm a technically inclined CG artist but my knowledge stops waaay short of a network admin...HELP!

Re: Windows 7 - Can't access shares
The same user (with the same credentials) does exist on the NAS?
Have any credentials in the Windows user profile stored for the NAS access?

Re: Windows 7 - Can't access shares
Thank you for your response. I added the user account to the NAS...same results. I checked the Windows Credential Manager, no credentials has been save for this device. Any other suggestions???

***RESOLVED****
Thanks to QNAP technical assistance guru Y.C. (YEN HSING CHEN)! He was able to identify the problem which was Samba not starting, due to a corrupt smb.conf file. Thanks a bunch Y.C.!
