Can't access shares since firmware upgrade

Post by angelspawn »

Hi,

I have upgraded my TS-410 to the latest QTS Firmware version 4.2.6 Build 20170905.
Since the reboot I can't access the windows share.
FTP is working and also the web management, but as soon as I try to access the files using windows explorer I receive error code 0x80070043 The network name cannot be found. I have tried with both DNS and IP always the same error.
Can anyone give me a hint what the error could be?

Best regards

Hi,
Start with re-applying the same firmware image again, ie. using the manual and more verbose process -> https://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/Manually_Updating_Firmware ... upload the firmware image to the NAS Public share by ftp.

If this does not cure, we have to check if the SAMBA processes (one nmbd, multiple smbd) are running:

[~] # ps -ef | grep mbd
6193 admin 1080 S /usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd -l /var/log -D -s /etc/con
6195 admin 544 S /usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd -l /var/log -D -s /etc/con
6196 admin 748 S /usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd -l /var/log -D -s /etc/con
6207 admin 632 S /usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd -l /var/log -D -s /etc/con
17115 admin 1116 S /usr/local/samba/sbin/nmbd -l /var/log -D -s /etc/con
22367 admin 576 S grep mbd

If these processes are not around, some indications might be in the logs, like

[~] # cat /var/log/log.nmbd
...

[~] # cat /var/log/log.smbd
...

If you are not familiar with using the NAS shell, don't hesitate to contact the QNAP Customer Service on https://helpdesk.qnap.com/
