Model:TS-963X
Current firmware version:4.3.6.1050
Date:2019/08/30
write target is a static drive, no raid, 7200rpm seagate (see image below)
copying a single file, size 2-3GB , from a windows 10 workstation, over 1Gbps LAN, using windows copy and paste
upload write speed: Used to get 110Mbps, now getting only 85Mbps
download read speed: still getting 110Mbps
Only two things have changed:
- firmware update
- I reinstalled QVRPro, and changed the recording target to a 3.5 inch HDD in slot Disk4, previously it was a 2.5 inch HDD in slot SSD1. Recording is continuous.
Tried it from three different windows 10 desktops on the same LAN, same results.
Tried different target drives in the QNAP, all static volumes on 7200rpm seagates, no raid, same results
Tried copying to a different NAS, a synology. Write performance was 110Mbps just like before with the qnap.
So obviously the issue is with the qnap
There is no new traffic on my LAN.
What gives ? Any clues ?
slower write after firmware update ?

Re: slower write after firmware update ?
QTS 4.3.6.1050 has been removed by QNAP. try downgrading to 4.3.6.0993

Manual Update/downgrade is same process.
download the firmware for your NAS here: https://www.qnap.com/en-uk/download
extract the *.img from the zip file. Then upload/update via "firmware Update" page in the admin control panel.
read the Manual update part here: https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/tutorial ... -firmware/

Re: slower write after firmware update ?
thanks !
I downgraded the firmware, but also had to delete the volume that had the QVR recordings because it reported an IO error.
I am now back to 110Mbps writes, but unsure whether it was fixed by the firmware downgrade or deletion of the QVRpro app and storage container
I'm in the middle of a block scan on the suspect drive. When that is done, I'll reinstall QVRPro and report what happens here

Re: slower write after firmware update ?
Reinstalled QVRPro, used an HDD slot for storage, still getting 110Mbps writes. So it seems likely that the firmware upgrade caused the slowdown.
Can't be certain, though. It could have been the presence of the faulty disk (now removed). That disk previously held the storage container for the camera recordings, perhaps the fault was causing problems with the disk controller that manifested across all the disks on that controller (?)

Re: slower write after firmware update ?
back to slow (80Mbps) writes, now I'm at firmware 4.4.1.1086
Is this ever gonna get fixed ? or do I have to live forever at 4.3.6.0993 ?

Re: slower write after firmware update ?
I also concur.
Latest 4.4.1.1117. Qnap is now a slug. Network is slow....interface is also a PIG.
Even trying to open "Network and Virtual Sw" takes forever.
Loosing faith with QNAP's now.....too much junk as they try to be EVERYTHING for EVERYONE.
I really don't care about 98% of the Apps. I guess it's time to find a more dedicated unit for my purposes.
Thats the last QNAP for me. They have finally worn me out.
