Windows File Sharing TS-219P+ (error 0x80004005) - Solved by enabling SMB3 using putty

Post by twincam1449 »

I have two QNAP NAS:

TS-219P+ and TS-459PRO+
Both have latest firmware
TS-219P+ 4.3.3.1161
TS-459PRO+ 4.2.6 (2020109)

I can access both NAS through the \\x.x.x.x.:8080 menu
But only the TS-459PRO+ is visable as network drive in Windows Explorer.
I tried with Windows 7 and Windows 10

I have read many posts, but can't find the solution.
Someone with the correct answer to solve the problem?

a network drive in internet explorer ? .. you mean file (windows) explorer..right ?
why don't you just mount the shares ? what happens if you try ?

so when you type into windows explorer

\\NASIP

do you get a share listing of the NAS? (whatever IP you entered)

p.s.
just making sure .. the IP you entered up there was a private range (no need to censor this) and not a public one .. right ?

In Windows Explores:
No, listing after entering \\192.168.2.9
It just comes up with windows cannot access \\192.168.2.9

When I enter 192.168.2.9:8080 in Google Chrome it goes directly to the logon screen.

Windows 10:
If I click ' This PC' in Windows Explorer it shows both NAS.
The 459 NAS has a 2D color screen next to it. If I click the 459, it only shows the music, photo and video directories
The 259 NAS has a 3D color screen with QNAP under it. If I click it, it also only shows the music, photo and video directories

If I click Network:
It shows the 459 NAS under " Computer" with the NAS name AND it show the 459 NAs under " Storage"

The 259 is not shown at all

whatever shows up in your file explorer is probably the NAS DLNA server .. both must have one active

something switched off your SMB server ... can you check if SMB Services are active and the services are bound to the correct interface? (if Service binding is used)
