Files not visible in windows 10

Post by stone28 »

Hi all,

I have copied a lot of movies from the portable HDD connected to the front USB port on my Qnap 409. In Qnap File manager showse them on Qnap but when I click any of them I get an error That system had problems with that URL. Also when I go there in windows the contend of these folders are empty even though is says in properties that the folder for example has 10GB in size.

There was no error while moving files. how can I fix it so all moved filed appear again and are working?

Thanks,

Did you move or copy them ?

There have been severe data loss issue in the past with the move procedure (files did not move but were deleted nonetheless)

Also screenshots of the filestation error message would help

OMG! I did move for all of them! Does this mean I really lost everything? Like I've said there was no error message after the move was completed unless there are some other logs you are referring to.

Hi,

Was the problem only while moving from the USB? Can I safely move folders between volumes/folders within the Qnap via its web file manager?

Thanks

afaik the problem was that the move script apparently deleted the source files no matter if it could move the files or not (e.g. permission or quota issue)

Not sure if that was only the case on moved inter-volume (e.g. external to internal) or also intra-volume

Now I can't delete all these empty folders that failed to copy over. They look empty yet show large size like there is something in them. I can't deleted it not. It says I need permissions.

Is there something like chkdsk on windows?
