cannot browse smb from windows on NEW computer

Post by dapupster »

just got a new laptop running the latest windows 10 - all my other computers can browse my qnap, firmware 4.5.3.1670; EXCEPT for the new computer

when i try to browse from windows explorer, i get the message box: "Windows cannot access \\QNAP" "You do not have permission to browse \\QNAP. Contact your network administrator to request access."

i don't even get the CHANCE to enter a username/password. i can browse my other qnap shares just fine....(they are running a lower firmware)

i broswed the forums and tried the following:

1) registry edit to enable guest browsing access to smb shares
2) windows credentials manager - added username/password to access the share
3) sugg here using the Local Group Policy Editor to do the same as #1 above: https://ricklewis.co.uk/index.php/2020/ ... nap-stuff/
4) enabled smb3 in qnap as per here: viewtopic.php?t=147188

nothing's working; what else can i try??
