Share folder RO prevents setting RW permission to all sub folders

Version 4.4.2.1270

Steps to reproduce
1) Create shared folder (ROOT) assign RO permission to user X
2) Create sub folder ROOT>SUB assign RW permission to user X
3) From windows 10 browse \\NASIP\ROOT\SUB

Expected
4) X is able to copy a file in the SUB folder

Current
4) X is unable to copy the file, error with permissions

I tried to read online, I found others with the same issue, some solved creating a new share folder, which is what I have also done but I have the same behavior (can tell how frustrating it is).
Any help would be very much appreciated.
