Great performance, to quote him, and to react on a 3 year old topic...
How was I supposed to know pwilson had passed away? RIP.

Re: Problems Mapping my shared folder
So this whole reinstalling samba thing just fixed my issue as well. I had migrated from a 431P to a 653D. Network drives worked for a few days but then stopped. I didn't have a samba4.sh but I did have a smb.sh that I ran the reinstall on. I'm so very thankful that these posts were out there. It seems like qnap migrations aren't to be trusted. Anyway, my files shares are working again and I'm ecstatic.

This thread saved my day. Same issue after migration (TS-431p -> TS-832X) and the proper solution can't be found anywhere else. Running the smb.sh script did the trick as well:
/etc/init.d/smb.sh reinstall_samba keep
/etc/init.d/thttpd.sh restart
/etc/init.d/smb.sh reinstall_samba keep
/etc/init.d/thttpd.sh restart
