Cannot restore VMs after upgrade

Post by plodge »

I'm experiencing challenges trying to restore my TVS873e. The goal was to remove the old 3xSSD sata drives, and rebuild with 2xM2 SSDs mirrored, which require a rebuild. I've got a backup of the config, but the whole restoration process is proving to be troublesome and less than robust.

With the VMs, I did an export of them as .qvm files, wiped the NAS, install the new M2 SSDs and installed Virtualization Centre and went to import. It fails and says there's a problem. I've still got the original data from the old SSDs although I have to flaff around to rebuild the directory share.

Any ideas why it would barf in trying to import something it just exported? Is there a way to re-inject the raw directory backups from the old SSDs as viable VM imports? For the latter I can then try another export to a different format.

Looking for some inspiration from the hive mind as I'm running out of ideas. Thanks all!
