Add hard drives directly to VM

Post by mconstable »

I have a TS-453D running on a pair of 500 GB SSDs. I'd like to install an extra pair of spinning drives and pass them directly through to a VM already running off a qcow2 image on the SSDs. Is this at all possible, perhaps using some kind of PCIe and CLI magic?

??

all i know is, you install the supported hdds and ssds on your qnap.

then in vm setup windows 10 or whatever os. When setting up it will ask you where your vm storage location is. recommended to use an ssd as the location.

then for boosting hdd performance, best use the virtio drivers.
