I have a TD-453D and need to run an Ubuntu Server (20.04 or more recent) on it. Unfortunately the Ubuntu Linux Station only provides Desktop images, and the Container Station only provides *ancient* Ubuntu images (<18.04!).
How do I go about getting a modern Ubuntu Server running in a container / vm / docker, on the Qnap?
How do I install an Ubuntu 20.04 Server image?

Install virtualization station and create a VM.
